Orbweb Joins the Open Connectivity Foundation’s Mission to Devote Itself to Create Interoperability in the IoT Industry
Palo Alto, CA, January 4, 2017 – Today Orbweb has become a member of the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), whose mission is to develop interoperability standards between IoT devices based on the Constrained Application Protocol. Orbweb also addressed that the company will continue to devote itself to providing solutions to manufacturers who aim to transform their devices into smart ones, and achieve interoperability between devices produced by other industry players.
Despite providing its own IoT platform, Orbweb strongly believes that it should assist in developing a common interoperability standard rather than competing with other players in the market. Yes, the standards are waiting to be finalized so that the promise of IoT, in business and development, is still pending. Orbweb believes that collaborating with the Open Connectivity Foundation and others to develop a common IoT standard serves a higher purpose – to help get devices talking to each other and allowing users to seamlessly use products together.
After witnessing many “islands” and less “bridges” in the IoT industry, Orbweb continues to strive to guarantee that “all things connect together”. With this membership, Orbweb is eligible to use the organization’s trademark, which exemplifies Orbweb’s commitment to OCF’s mission to define common connectivity standards to improve interoperability between the billions of devices making up the Internet of Things.
About OCF Open Connectivity Foundation
Billions of connected devices (devices, phones, computers and sensors) should be able to communicate with one another regardless of manufacturer, operating system, chipset or physical transport. The Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) is creating a specification and sponsoring an open source project to make this possible. OCF will unlock the massive opportunity in the IoT market, accelerate industry innovation and help developers and companies create solutions that map to a single open specification. OCF will help ensure secure interoperability for consumers, business, and industry.
